DATE-SWEETENED, DARN FINE!

Introducing our first ever batch of refined sugar-free truffles, our Date-Sweetened Truffle Box! They have no added sugar at all: just single origin Dominican cacao, dates, and straightforward whole food ingredients. 

Each box has three Date & Olive Oil Meltaways, three Date Chocolate Cream Ganache truffles, and three Date Caramels.

Date & Olive Oil Meltaway
The Olive Oil Meltaway has been a mainstay since we started making truffles for our factory retail store. Our go-to olive oil is always the bright and peppery Spanish extra virgin olive oil from La Tourangelle. It’s rich with juicy notes of ripe apricot, which pairs perfectly with our fruity unroasted dark chocolate. In this rendition, ground dates sweeten a 68% dark chocolate made with Zorzal Cacao beans. We blend that with olive oil, pour it into molds, then sprinkle a little bit of salt on top to make it all sing. This one melts like velvet on the tongue. It’s ambrosial, even. No wonder the Romans ate stuffed dates for dessert… 

Date Chocolate Cream Ganache
Here we turned that 68% date-sweetened Zorzal chocolate into a fine chocolate shell and piped in a coconut cream ganache made with vanilla bean. It tastes like a rich chocolate mousse. The combination of fruity and nutty Dominican cacao, butterscotch-y dates, and nostalgic vanilla play off each other beautifully. 

Date Caramel
Last,  certainly not least, and the favorite amongst our team, is the Date Caramel. We caramelized date syrup with coconut cream and a touch of brown rice syrup, then piped that into our 68% date-sweetened dark chocolate shells. The proverbial cherry on top is a cute little dried date on each truffle, a garnish with a little chew.

Each box contains nine truffles, three of each flavor.

FAQs

What does unroasted mean?

Cacao beans are the seeds of the cacao fruit, harvested and prepared by producers at origin. Every bean has a flavor profile shaped by the soil and climate it grows in, as well as the care each producer takes in cultivating and processing it. This fruity flavor is often roasted away in favor of that classic “chocolatey” note. We love this fruit-forward flavor, and we make our chocolate without roasting so you can enjoy it too.

Is this chocolate vegan?

You bet. All of our bars are 100% vegan. Some dark chocolates still contain milk powder, but ours do not. Instead, we make vegan "milk style" and white chocolate bars with oats and coconut.

What does this chocolate taste like?

How do you ship chocolate when it's hot out?

Don't fret, we check the weather before mailing every order. If it's going to be hotter than 75ºF anywhere en route, we use insulation and ice packs to ensure you receive your chocolate in perfect condition!

Do you test your chocolate for heavy metals?
